Seeing my child truly happy
I worry about my child:
- They've told me at their school that they have trouble following the classes they do not pay attention and that always end up told off.
- They have relationship problems with friends, they seem to be very alone.
- They do not want to go to school andI worry they are being bullied.
- They have changed since their younger brother was born.
- They are not the same since the divorce.
- They have regular temper tantrums.
- Sometimes they put themselves in danger unnecessarily.
- I don't know if I'm doing things properly, I often feel I can't calm them down and control them.
- They are sick most of the time.
- They say they are afraid and has frequent nightmares and / or difficulty sleeping.
These are common concerns for parents. Like adults, children also go through difficult moments in life for which they're not prepared and they don't always know how to cope.
The arrival of a sibling, a move, a change of school, divorce, the death of a close relative that affects the whole family, school maladjustment...are some of the common situations our children go through that can seriously affect them (depending on their personality and their background).
Can I do something to change this?
When we see that our child is suffering it's wise to seek counseling in order to help them develop their own resources and strengthen their capacities. This will not only allow them to overcome the situation but boost their confidence and make them emotionally stronger.
During therapy with children I use games as a tool. This channel allows the child to represent their inner world, and me to understand and share the feelings that are a result of their suffering. Family and school also play an important role. I usually include them in the therapeutic context, because with these gain a new emotional perspective, the relationship improves and strengthens the child's abilities.
For a comprehensive treatment of childhood problems I work with child psychiatrists, speech therapists and a space encouraging natural upbringing called mima’m.
Currently, I collaborate with bilingual schools.
